Why a PiDoot Pledges '64 Blog?

Life is but a string of memories; make good ones and cherish them always.
—
Advice Dodge Engleman (son of the KU basketball great, Howard Engleman) gave my pledge brother John Haase on the 4th hole of the Salina Country Club when John was in 7th grade and Dodge in 9th grade. As John says, "I think he was right; memories and story telling are amazingly gratifying."

This is the initial post in a new blog about the adventures (and a few mis-adventures) of the K.U. Phi Gamma Delta, Pi Deuteron chapter, pledge class of 1964. These early baby boomers formed strong friendships, mostly managed to get an education, and used their 4 years as a springboard to productive adult lives (hey, this is my blog, I can make any claim I want to).
I hope that brothers will be inspired to offer their anecdotes, photos and any other documentation that strikes their fancy. I would like to have a post for each of my ~ 25 pledge brothers.
I will kick it off with a recap of the printable parts of an amusing email string initiated by the announcement of a 50th year reunion get-together in Lawrence in September. Our legal team has ensured me that the statute of limitations has expired for the crimes and misdemeanors described. That will not, however, protect you from ridicule by your progeny when they read about your escapades.
If you are undecided about participating, I will only say that I would give anything if my Dad had been able to do this for his college years.
